Recently, when we visited Kanipaka Vara Siddhi Vinayaka Temple in Kanipakam, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, my mother was very particular about getting Tella Jilledu idol of Lord Ganesh. She had searched a lot in Hyderabad but couldn’t get it. So she did a patient, persistent search till she found it and we could get it at one of the official shopping stalls near the temple for Rs 100. To be precise this shop was close to koneru (pond). There was a board mentioning the details of the idol and were kept in a separate tray. When we tried to bargain the price, the shopkeeper explained more details that it is a very auspicious idol and is prepared with due care and so he was saying that he can’t give it for less than Rs 100.
When I asked my mother about its significance, she explained me that this idol is very sacred and is built with Tella Jilledu root on a very auspicious day: Aadivaram amaavasya (Sunday + No Moon day). She also mentioned that the idol is very powerful and if kept at home, it brings a lot of good things.
After this when I tried to understand more on this, I came to know that the it keeps enemies, sani away and brings prosperity.
So if you are looking for this Swetarka Ganapathi Idol, Kanipakam is the best place.
